MBA Marketing Management

First things first, marketing is not about door to door selling. One must definitely know the difference between Marketing and Sales. The sales aspect is one part of the Marketing domain – The other subdomains can be Market Research, Digital Marketing, Public Relations, etc.

It is a core specialization just like Finance, Operations and Human Resources. Marketing can be defined as the “pull” which is executed to attract the customer to use or buy your product. Marketing is key to any business across all sectors. If we go back in history then we find the existence of marketing at the beginning of civilization. From distribution flyers in the pre-internet era to just calling out the customer in your local surrounding to try your product. Marketing management is a process of strategies and planning for product or service, advertising, promotion, sales in order to reach potential customers.

Example – One classic example of marketing was the launch of the iPod in 2001, the time during which people used to listen to music using cassettes and CDs. The marketing of the iPod was done with a simple sentence “1000 songs in your pocket”. It was simple yet effective, being portable was the USP of iPod. It was highlighted with such ease that it caught the eye of all and made it one of the best selling product of Apple and revolutionised the way we listen to music today

Marketing Executive / Advertising Associate

  • The primary function is to plan and oversee a variety of marketing activities – campaigns, promotions etc.

  • Measures the success of the marketing programs and conduct market research

 

Brand Manager / Marketing Manager

  • Ensure that the company and its products are associated with the right audience with a message.

Area Sales Manager

  • Responsible for distribution and achieving the overall sales target

  • Act as a point of escalation for specific cases, fraud alerts, customer complaints or exception handling and support the removal of bottlenecks for the achievement of business targets
  • Develop effective working relationships with dealers/distributors

 

Content Manager / Social media Marketing

  • Helps the company to enhance their online presence through blog posts, articles, social media content
  • Create a variety of media, videos, podcasts, newsletters etc.
  • Implement digital marketing tactics, SEO, email marketing and web analytics
  • Analyze marketing metrics and make required changes

 

Digital Marketing Executive / SEO Associate

  • Responsible for considering new digital tools to measure website traffic to improve marketing campaigns, email marketing, social media, and advertising campaigns
  • Working with web traffic, Google Ads, Facebook Ads etc,
  • Responsible for managing all SEO activities – Keywords, ranking etc.

 

Strategic Partnership Manager

  • Establishing and managing Strategic alliances and Partnerships, mainly with other institutions, regulated entities
  • Manage a set of partners through agreement consultation, onboarding, and other channel program activities to help channel partners grow their business
  • Develop a pipeline of strategic partners and manage/maintain the same

 

Market Research Analyst / Marketing data analyst

  • Analyse data of consumers, peers and market places
  • Produce effective reports and presentations and make recommendations
  • Identify potential suppliers and buyers from the market
  • Work on digital marketing data/campaigns utilizing SEO/SEM, social media, advertising etc.

 

Site Merchandiser

  • Mostly working for the e-commerce business operations
  • Implement and optimize site merchandising strategies and provide business inputs and context to creative teams
  • Designing and executing successful online customer experiences
  • Tracking and analyzing customer needs based on their behaviour

Salary: The salary structure of a post-graduation MBA in Marketing can range from Rs. 5 LPA – Rs. 25 LPA with an average salary sitting at Rs. 7 LPA tp Rs. 8 LPA. However, any graduate from top B-school can expect the salary to be more than Rs. 15 LPA
